vasFMC - Pre-Release Testversions

As the vasFMC release cycles are rather long i deceided to upload once and then pre-release versions of vasFMC.
These versions will only be for testing and certain things or features may not work properly.

Important for Standalone Version:

1) Make sure to install the test version into a new and clean directory!
2) Do *not* install this version into the directory of any previous pre-release or release version!
3) Installing it over an existing version will most probably not work because of conflicting/changed configuration files!

Important for Gauge Version:

After the installation and before starting the flightsimulator, remove all files from the [fs9]\vasfmc\cfg directory!

As always: Please report any bugs to the forum here!

Upload Time: 31.12.2008 16:45
Standalone Version Download Link: Alpha8 pre-release Testversion - Win32 Standalone
Gauge Version Download Link: Alpha8 pre-release Testversion - Win32 Gauge

Changes since Alpha7:
* Fixed some issues which could lead to crashes.
* Added B-style ECAM/EICAS
* Fixed ECAM TOGA N1 value display.
* Added Level-D terminal procedure support.
(Note: Navigraph has now added the LEVEL-D procedures to the vasFMC AIRAC.)
* Added "Heading to Altitude" waypoint support.
* Removed turn circle display for A-style and made small changes to B-style.
* Added Fly By Wire functionality derived from easyFBW (see MCDU MENU)
(Note: The FBW is tuned for the Project Airbus A318 and A320 and may not work correctly with other models.)
(Note2: The FBW will have problems when the frames drop a certain limit, the
more frames per second you have, the better the FBW will behave.)
* Fixed many many minor issues and made many small changes and additions.
* Added support for FCU TRK/FPA mode.
* Implemented proper A-style flaps handling for "1", "1+F" and "2" according to airspeed.
* Added pushback functionality to MCDU (see MENU -> PUSHBACK).
* Added callouts for outermarker, 10000ft and A-style flaps 1, 2 and 3.
* Added left/right PFD, ND and MCDU support to standalone version, note the additional FSUIPC offsets.
(Note: You will need a fast PC to display the left- and right-hand display at the same time.)
(Note2: You can switch between the FCU "left only" and "full" mode via the MCDU MENU->SETTINGS page.)
* Added TERR button to FCU for geo data (coastlines) and removed the setting from the MCDU SETTINGS MENU.
* Moved items from the context menus to the MCDU MENU pages.
* Added FONT page to MCDU MENU->SETTINGS, the font sizes can now be controlled via the MCDU.
* Added customizable aircraft configurations which can be loaded via the MCDU MENU -> FMGC page.
Note: The aircraft configs are located in the "aircraft_data" subdirectory.
* Added direct support for CPFlight MCP with configurable commands (see MCDU MENU->INTERFACES and cpflight.txt).
* Added lots of new vasFMC FSUIPC offsets, please note that some offsets have changed!
* Implemented flight level change autopilot mode with speed command (alias OP CLB).
* Implemented FD takeoff mode (SRS), when switching on the flightdirector on ground, the takeoff mode is armed.
(Note: When the takeoff mode is armed, pressing HDG or NAV arms the lateral mode to
be user above the acceleration altitude.)
* Added inital and maximum climb thrust to be entered on the MCDU PERF page.
(Note: The climb thrust will reach the maximum value at 30000ft.)
* Made some performance enhancements regarding the route calculations (projection, etc.)
* Added opencockpits.com compatible IOCP Server which enables vasFMC to
receive commands from IOCP clients (see MCDU MENU->INTERFACES and iocp.txt).
* Added FMOD lib (http://www.fmod.org) for the FMC sounds. The sound output problems should be history now.
FMOD Sound System, copyright © Firelight Technologies Pty, Ltd., 1994-2007.
* Added vasFMC connection mode (single, master and slave), see MCDU MENU->INTERFACES page.
A vasFMC instance set to slave mode can be connected to another vasFMC instance set to master mode.
* Did a massive code cleanup and implemented refresh load balancing to stabalize framerates.
* Removed the context menus and moved setup functions to MCDU MENU (e.g. pages DISPLAY 1 & 2).
* Added TCAS standby mode, the modes now are: OFF, STANDBY, ON
* Enhanced flight director and speed trend smoothing.
* Added basic takeoff and landing checklists to A-style ECAM.
* The TOD (top of descent) calculation now takes the next waypoint with a "at" or "at or below"
  altitude restriction into account.
* Move distance to TOD display to CRZ PERF page.
* After takeoff, the flight director will now change to "RWY TRK" mode, which
aims to keep the aircraft's track aligned with the runway.
* Added Airbus throttle mode which is disabled by default and can be enabled
on the MCDU MENU -> SETTING page. (The vasFMC thrust mode is mandatory.)
When enabled, the joystick thrust lever will behave like the real airbus one
with CL, FLX/MCT and TOGA detents. The joystick throttle lever will always
directly command the requested N1, even if the A/THR is off.
* Added more checks when inserting SIDs, STARs, etc. to avoid unwanted double routings.
* Added click sounds and callouts for Airbus throttle lever detents and thrust modes.
* Added basic A-style approach phase to the MCDU PERF pages.
For now only the ILS will be tuned if the arrival runway has an ILS and the
speed will be set to green dot speed.
* Added A-style "LAND", "FLARE" and "ROLLOUT" and "LOC/GS capture" FMA modes.
* Implemented "heading to intercept" waypoint support.
* Added flight mode tracker to track the flight phases. Various FMC modules
and modes now depend on the current phase of flight.
* Added OOOI (out/off/on/in) times to MCDU MENU -> ACARS -> OOOI
* Changed CDU font to Lucida Sans Typewriter.
* The INIT B page is now only accessible when on the ground and the engines are
not running. The INIT A page is now only accessible while PREFLIGHT and TAXI flight phases.
* Inflight the GW and FOB values can now be seen on the new rudimentary FUEL PREF page.
* Changed lots of autopilot and autothrust details.
* Added separate acceleration and thrust reduction altitudes now on the PERF TAKEOFF page.
* Added transition level to PERF APPROACH page.
The altimeter setting will blink when descending below the TL with altimeter set to STD.
* Added flaps/trim setting to PERF TAKEOFF page.
When entering a trim value, the trim will be set to the aircraft when on ground.
* When in PRE FLIGHT or TAXIING flight phase, the autopilot modes (announced
by the FMA) will be empty. When the flight phase changes to TAKEOFF, the
autopilot modes will be set automatically, if the flight director was turned on before.
* The NAV mode now engages when passing 30ft radar altitude on departure.
* The AP can now be engaged at 100ft radar altitude on departure.
* A flightplan can now only be loaded (from a file, from VROUTE or via ICEO
route entry) in PREFLIGHT and TAXI flight phases.
* Made A-style flaps handling (e.g. automatic retraction from 1+F to 1 at 210kts)
optional via the MCDU MENU -> SETTINGS page.
* Fixed thrust reduction / acceleration altitudes to really be altitude rather than height values.
Both altitude values will be set to 1000ft above field level whenever the departure airport changes.
* Added first version of new MCDU graphic by Ricardo Rivalo.

Re: vasFMC - Pre-Release Testversions

Hi Alex,

I hope you are fine.

It's a wonderful job. Maybe the XPlane connection (vasfmc-xpfmxconn) will be there ? Not found in this pack, and no success with the one of the alpha 7.

Thank's for all -)

Cheers

Re: vasFMC - Pre-Release Testversions

Hi,

The vasFMC X-Plane developers are still fighting with the X-Plane autopilot, i don't know how long this fight will take...

For all those interested,

the HW and Mac guy of the team will exhibit at the FSWeekend in Lelystad.
At the stand of flightpanels.com you can get a sneak preview into vasfmc coupled to X-Plane.
Still no autopilot though :-(

Re: vasFMC - Pre-Release Testversions

Hi,

About Level D´s procedures. i noticed in latest test version that SID´s (efhk) doesn´t show correctly in ND. It is only a straight line from  Rw to artur. RW 33 ARTUR 2V departure example. should go like After passing HEL (vor) left turn to track 245 to intercept RDL 265 HEL outbound and proceed to artur. I think that real thing (A320) will show hole route in ND from end of rw to artur.

Is this limit of vasfmc or level D´s data from navigraph? I think that navigraph´s data has included allso hole route? (find in navdata folder of vasfmc).

Just asking for better understanding of vasfmc.

Jarkko from Finland

BTW new fly by wire is fantastic.

Just noticed that this went in wrong thread (only for moderators....)

Re: vasFMC - Pre-Release Testversions

There are certain types of waypoints (like "intercept radial xy", etc.), that vasFMC does not support yet. I guess that your SID contains such waypoint types, which are just skipped by vasFMC at the moment.

Re: vasFMC - Pre-Release Testversions

Hello Alex,

congratulations, the software is working nice, thanks.

I'm using the b style,
in the 2.0a7 version there was an ND (C) En/Disables coupling,
but i can't find it in the 2.0a8 version. I'd like to ask you, how
can I activate the heading mode?

Thank you very much,

Taky

Re: vasFMC - Pre-Release Testversions

Either use the FCU/MCP or do it via FSUIPC offsets (e.g. assigned to keys).

Sounds like you allready have a plan for these? could you even give hint are these included near future?

Hi Alex,

it looks like i have not explained my problem clearly.
when I'm programming CDU, I use b style, I take off the plane,
I turn on AP/FCU (heading), CDU is working fine, during the flight
I cant deactivate the CDU for heading (rute line is supposed
to be purple dashed line), so i cant change heading on AP/FCU manually.

Thank you,

Re: vasFMC - Pre-Release Testversions

Take a look into the manual.

... Selecting HDG Mode is done by pulling the FCU HDG knob (klick with right mousebutton)

HI,

okey Alex, it works on VASFCU panel,
but it does not work on boeing737 FCU panel in FS2004,
but it works in 2.0a7 version,

Re: vasFMC - Pre-Release Testversions

Moin.

Very nice software, works very well.

Unfortunately some people (like me) use VasFMC with other Airplanes as Airbus, so it's not so nice to have always a A320-FCU open :-(

Any chance to get a version like 2.0a7 with the bugfixes?

Re: vasFMC - Pre-Release Testversions

This not a bug. As we are entering a stage where the standard autopilot is not sufficient, we have to somehow wrap the new functionality around the standard flightsim autopilot. Thus either you can stick with the dumb standard autopilot or use vasFMC with enhanced functionality. Btw, why don't you just use FSUIPC offsets if you don't want to use the FCU?

Re: vasFMC - Pre-Release Testversions

Hi Alex,

for my understanding, what does 'connection mode' mean?

What I tried to do is, I mounted the gauges of 2.07a into the overland 737/Airbus virtual cockpits and they work very good!! but I aim on havin the gauges only as slaves of a vasfmc session working on a remote pc (that means: PFD,ND at flightsim-PC and MCDU and UECAM+Vasfmc Session at remote).

Is this possible with the connection mode?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Re: vasFMC - Pre-Release Testversions

At the time being there is only a standalone version supporting the FMC connect functionality. In the end you will be able to connect various slave vasFMCs to one master vasFMC in order to exchange their route data etc.
Important: The vasFMC Interconnection will *not* exchange all the values derived via FSUIPC, thus if you want to have the ECAM on a 2nd PC, you will still need widefs.

Re: vasFMC - Pre-Release Testversions

I have fixed some bugs, implemented some new features (see below) and uploaded a new pre-release version to the same download link. Now also the FS2004 gauge is avaiable as a pre-release version.

Feature changelog since last pre-release version:

* The TOD (top of descent) calculation now takes the next waypoint with a "at" or "at or below"
  altitude restriction into account.
* Move distance to TOD display to CRZ PERF page.
* After takeoff, the flight director will now change to "RWY TRK" mode, which
aims to keep the aircraft's track aligned with the runway.
* Added Airbus throttle mode which is disabled by default and can be enabled
on the MCDU MENU -> SETTING page. (The vasFMC thrust mode is mandatory.)
When enabled, the joystick thrust lever will behave like the real airbus one
with CL, FLX/MCT and TOGA detends. The joystick throttle lever will always
directly command the requested N1, even if the A/THR is off.
* Added more checks when inserting SIDs, STARs, etc. to avoid unwanted double routings.

Re: vasFMC - Pre-Release Testversions

Hello,
I use VasFMC with the A300-600 panel HNAC. The version alpha 7 is perfect with this panel. I installed the alpha 8 and it seems is right just a problem. I don't have the menu when I right-click on the ND to change the Mode (ILS rose, VOR rose, Arc etc...).
Have you an idea why ?

Thanks in advance and congratulations for the great job.
