Primarly related to VAS but maybe some other topics though ;-)

normaly I use FSX (Windows Vista) not in windows mode using directX10. Is it possible to run vasFMC (standalone) that way?
Offline
Running vasFMC is not the problem, but you can not display it as long the FSX is running in fullscreen.

thank you for your immediate response, so I continue in windows-mode. Maybe it will be possible in fullscreen-mode in one of the next releases.... :-)

Is it possible to run vasFMC non-windowed on a second computer?
Offline
Yes, that is no problem, you only need WideFS.
Offline
Um, I guess I should elaborate; I'm not using Windows, I use Macs.
Offline
Then you don't even need WideFS. The X-Plane plugin itself serves as a multicast network connector, you can hook an arbitrary number of vasFMC applications in your network to it.
Offline
Yeah - got that happening. I'm just hoping there's a way to display on the screen with no menu bar, i.e. full screen/non-windowed.
Cheers,
Peter C.

Hello Peter,
probabely it is possible what you want.
As your question is still a bit blur, I recommend the manual, online help and forum.

Naturally he's referring to FSX in full screen mode instead of windowed mode. Something I'm looking for aswell.
Kind of like the 'gauge' version but instead of integrating them into a 2D panel just have them like popups like hitting shift-F3 for the GPS etc.
Of course the best way to do that is to create a small minipanel where all the vasFMC displays are packed.
The only pain in the ass is to write a gau file FSX can actually read or have a work around in order for the window library in the panel.cfg
to adress the vasFMCpanels in question. But if you guys could do that you have a FSX compliant AND integrated FMC.
Up to you guys but I'm sure you make a lot of people very happy, not in the last bit, me ![]()

Hello Rob,
I am absolutely confident that Peter is not referring to FSX...
Making people happy:
We like to do that, and the current release of vasFMC is proof thereof.
We also have a bucket full of ideas, improvements etc.
Opposite to the full time cohorts at Thales we are 5 guys investing their free time. We have asked repeatedly for support from the community, but received nothing. Writing the manual could be done by any Airbus savvy person, but we still don't know her.
The OpenGL guru invited for an integrated panel for X-Plane, did not show up either.
Also the donate button is only used by few.
While the reports we receive in general are positive or at least constructive ideas, the overall reaction is no incentive to really press on.
Nonetheless we ARE working on vasFMC.
What could you contribute?
Best regards,
Joe T. Hermann

First off; your response apperently carries loads of frustration and I really do not understand why it is I feel pissed off here but I do and it is uncalled for.
Now the answer to your remarks and questions;
You were right I was mixing up Urs and Peter, sorry for that.
Personally I enjoy every bit of freeware there is to be found for the Flight Simulator. My hats of to you and all the others, thousends of them, that keep the sim community alive and kicking. Without you and their efforts the whole deal would be grey or very expensive, either way. When you open a forum for enthousiastic users of your efforts and give room for 'general discussion' do not be surprised you also receive requests and critisism. They are part of what people consider discussion. So bitching about it will only push people away.
As for your question on the contriibutions I could make; sir, I have no clue about a programming or airplanes, in fact I needed the video of Nout to get even started with the FMC you guys build. I do not even have ideas about what could be done with your project. But that does not prevent me from trying to help a fellow user explaining his thoughts. I'm sure most users of your program users never visited your forums or did not care to participate in them, but enjoy your and your team efforts very much. I'm glad to hear that despite your overall impression from what you hear and see, you still find motivation to press on.
Reading your last question, wich falls in line with my opening, I don't know what to expect answering this so I won't. I wish you and your team many fruitful hours in further developing this project. Meanwhile I will study Nout his you tube video's en figure out how to fly an AC with FMC.
Sincerelly,
Rob

He has a point Joerg, the donate button seems to have disappeared from the front page.
BTW I did use it once, but it was all in German, it didn't go automatically into the users language !!

Rob,
sorry to have stepped on your toe.
You interpreted my frustration correctly, but I didn't explain enough why:
Of course a forum is for discussion, error reporting and constructive criticism.
We accept all this, and while we get all sorts of input, we must turn it down at the same time, because we do not have the resources to implement them. This is the source of my frustration.
What would you think about a forum, where the developers continously hammer with their shoes yelling "Niet"? Instead of that I have adopted the counter question - if a clever idea comes up, I ask if the OP could implement it.
I understand that programmers are far and few in between pilots. In case you have no clue on programming - maybe a buddy of you has? So you cuold sit with him, explaining what you want, and he can implement it. This is the spirit of open source.
If you want to dive into the vasFMC logic dive into the manuals at smartcockpit.com
The donate button has apparently gone, yes. Sorry for not visiting the home page...
I remember it was german only, and by no means could be switched to english.
Best regards,
Joe T. Hermann
